 Captains’ Welcome

Welcome to Edmondstown!  We would like to extend to you all the traditional Irish welcome ‘cead mile failte’ which means a hundred thousand welcomes.  We are delighted and honoured to be your hosts for this year’s Glancy Tournament which also marks the 75th anniversary of Edmondstown Golf Club.

The Glancy was previously held in Edmondstown in 1966 and in 2003 and we hope that 2019 will be an equally successful and enjoyable visit.

Our Glancy Committee under the Chairmanship of Julian Caplin have been planning this tournament for the past 2 years and we are grateful for the guidance and advice of the board members of the Association of Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies in assisting us with the preparations for this prestigious event.

Our course staff have worked especially hard this year to present the course in pristine condition for the tournament and we hope that you consider it a good and fair challenge. Our catering team have joined with the Glancy committee to make sure you have the best of Irish food and drinks while you are here.

Our Pro Shop is ready to provide everything that you may have forgotten or needs replacing while you are here. Copies of our recently published history ‘A Portrait of a Golf Club’ by two esteemed members, Howard Jacobs and David White, will be available for sale in the Pro Shop if you would like a memento of your visit to Edmondstown.

Our many friends, members, artisans and staff have helped in planning to make the hosting of this year’s Glancy a big success.  We especially thank our General Manager, Mark Lynch, for his efforts in putting all the pieces together for the tournament.

We know that some of you are planning on extending your visit to discover Ireland and to play some of our other golf courses. We hope the weather is kind to you and that you enjoy the company of the people you meet and the beauty of our country.

Finally, we wish you well in the Tournament and hope you will take home many happy memories of your visit to Edmondstown and Ireland.
